A Republican who has opposed mask and vaccine mandates and authored legislation prohibiting government officials or business owners from requiring proof of vaccination has been hospitalized with COVID-19

Wisconsin Republican State Sen. André Jacque (R-De Pere) ) announced Monday that he and some family members had tested positive for the coronavirus and that he was at the hospital with pneumonia late last week reported the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

“I do not know when I contracted Covid, but some of my family and I did test positive for it at the end of last week after I came home from Madison,” Jacque told the newspaper in a text message.
